BHS Cheerleaders Claim Regional Championship; Video of Winning Routine

Saturday afternoon, the Bridgeport High School cheerleaders were crowned WVSSAC Region 2 Class AA champions at the regional competition held at Robert C. Byrd High School. The RCB Flying Eagles took the runner-up spot. Both teams will advance to state competition at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Dec. 8. 
 
Each team performed a technical cheer – between 30 and 40 seconds in length – and a dance with a maximum length of 2 minutes 30 seconds.
 
Eight of the Tribe’s 17 cheerleaders returned from the 2017 season. The team consists of seniors Isabelle Cunanan, Lexi Galan, Sophie DelGreco and Ashley Weber; juniors Miranda Kress, Lindsey Suter, Sophia Gorby, Addison Boggs and Alyson Gibson and freshmen Lilly Strait, Gyllian Wagner, Emilia Underwood, Lauran Johnston, Rylee Mullins, Amelia Duarte, Jade Nguyen and Lillian Iaquinta. The team is coached by Natalie and Janet Hathaway. 
 
Other teams competing in Class AA were Lewis County, Liberty High School, Nicholas County, Clay County, Lincoln, Elkins, Braxton and Herbert Hoover.
