BHS Names Cook, Jordan Students of Month for October

Bridgeport High School has announced its students of the month for August. They are Maci Cook and Tate Jordan.
 
Maci Cook is the daughter of Brian and Patti Cook of Bridgeport.
 
Maci has been very involved at Bridgeport High School since her freshman year. She has been a member of the Drug Free Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Young Life, Key Club, and Spanish Club. Through her involvement with the Spanish Club, she has had the opportunity to participate in the International Fair and taken part in the Pulsera Project. Maci was chosen by her classmates to be a BHS peer helper and was selected by her Spanish teacher to serve as a Spanish Tutor.
 
Maci was also elected as a freshman homecoming princess and this year, she was selected as Homecoming Maid of Honor. 
 
Maci has earned a 4.12 GPA while managing numerous Advanced Placement and Honors Courses throughout her 4 years. She has received an academic letter and lamp each year while attending BHS. Maci was chosen to represent BHS at the American Legion Auxiliary Rhododendron Girls State, West Virginia's premier leadership academy, where she was able to meet local leaders and other girls from schools all over the state. She has also been inducted in the BHS Chapters of National Honor Society and Spanish Honorary. 
 
Maci has been a varsity letterman throughout her four years at BHS in soccer and softball, and also lettered in cross country her junior year. Last year, Maci earned honorable mention on the Class AAA All-State Softball Team. 
 
Maci has been active in the BHS orchestra since she was a freshman. Her freshman and sophomore years, she auditioned and played for the WVU High School Honor Orchestra. Due to COVID, last year the event was cancelled, however, she plans to audition and play again this year. 
 
Maci has volunteered through both her church, Simpson Creek Baptist, and her school. She has served as a Vacation Bible School leader. She has also volunteered for local nursing homes, UNICEF, Salvation Army Angel Tree, Operation Christmas Child, Shop for Tots, and The Little League Challenger division which has been very rewarding. She has formed a very special bond with her buddy from the challenger league. Maci's passion is helping others. 
 
In her free time, Maci enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dogs, working out, going fishing, and getting her nails done. She has loved being an active member of Bridgeport High School. She has plans to attend WVU where she has been admitted to the Honors College and is a direct admit to their Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. After obtaining her bachelor's degree, Maci intends to further pursue a career as a Nurse Practitioner.
 
Tate Jordan is the son of Toni and Joseph. He has maintained above a 4.0 GPA, received an academic letter and both lamps, and taken several AP courses.
 
Tate was inducted into the National Honor Society.
 
Tate has played Bridgeport Indians Football all four years of high school and he was recognized as First-Team All-State Offensive Lineman in 2021 and 2021 Big Ten Conference Lineman of the Year his senior season as well as 2020 Big Ten Conference First-Team Defensive Lineman as a junior.
 
He is the team captain for the Bridgeport 2022 team for The American Rocketry Challenge. He is the CEO of the Aerospace Simulated Workplace Company, Stratus Tech, under the Harrison Country Academy of Aviation Technology. Tate plans on majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Chemistry in college and serving in the United States Air Force.
