During the West Virginia Municipal League's 48th Annual Conference, municipal leaders from around the state elected Bridgeport City Council member Robert Greer to serve as the League’s President for 2017-2018.

“I am humbled by the confidence shown in me by my colleagues from across the State of West Virginia. The Municipal League is the advocate for cities, towns, and villages and it is a distinct honor to lead a group made up of municipal officials who act daily on the front line of government,” Greer said.

Greer has worked very close with the League on issues that affect all cities.

The election was held during the Municipal League’s Annual Business Meeting on August 4, 2017.  The remaining officers for the 2017-18 term consist of:  Vice President, Mayor Steve Williams of Huntington; Treasurer Councilor Kevin Knowles of Martinsburg; and Secretary Mayor Serafino Nolletti of Logan.

The League meeting was held at Waterfront Place by Marriott in Morgantown and was attended by more than 375 municipal officials and guests.  Mayor Frank Mullens of South Charleston was chosen as the Quiet Strength award recipient and Mayor Randy Barrett of Winfield was nominated and selected as Mayor of the Year.
