MESSAGE FROM THE CITY OF BRIDGEPORT, OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER

 

Randy Wetmore, City Manager of Bridgeport, wants to remind residents of ongoing city services. The Police and Fire Departments are diligently patrolling and protecting the public during emergency situations while operating with caution and providing essential services to our residents and first due areas during the COVID-19 outbreak. 

 

Bridgeport Public Works and Wastewater Treatment Departments are operating to provide essential services but will also stay in compliance with the ‘Shelter in Place’ statewide order to help change the trajectory and impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. These employees work to ensure residents have clean, safe drinking water, safe public sewer systems and treatment, keep streets functioning properly for safe commutes, and support public safety departments in emergencies.

 

During this time, Utility Billing Representatives are continuing to provide assistance with payments, billing, and construction permits, but at reduced on-site staffing levels at City Hall, which are closed to the public to limit exposure. Code Enforcement is also working to provide regular construction inspections as construction is ongoing per Governor Justice’s Executive Order. Beautification projects will continue by city staff and will include grass mowing.

 

Mayor Andy Lang, City Council, and city staff are in contact on a regular basis to ensure we are keeping up with the latest information released from the Governor’s Office, the CDC and the DHHR. Working together, we are doing our best to protect our most vulnerable, our families, our workers and our community.

 

We have seen amazing acts of kindness, camaraderie, neighbors helping neighbors, residents supporting small businesses, and friends and family reconnecting throughout this pandemic. City Staff is very proud to be a part of this community and we will continue to provide the very best services possible to our residents.
