Bridgeport Crews Respond to Rarity of Two Structure Fires in Span of Hours Late Saturday, Early Sunday

FIRE 1
 
The Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched at 8:43 p.m. to a reported structure fire at 216 Davisson Street. Crews arrived on the scene to find a working fire in an unoccupied two story residence.
 
Fire was visible on both the first and second floor with heavy smoke showing. Exposures on each side of the burning structure. Firefighters entered the structure and contained the fire quickly on the first floor then the second floor they were able to keep the fire from extending from the structure of origin.
 
Firefighters spent over an hour doing salvage and overhaul to make sure the fire was completely out. The fire is under investigation by the Bridgeport Fire Department, Bridgeport Police Department and the West Virginia State Fire Marshall’s office. 
 
The hot humid temperatures didn’t have an effect on the firefighters battling the blaze. All firefighters were monitored for any signs of heat related illness and well hydrated. There was no injuries on the scene.
 
Firefighters returned to the station at 11:30 p.m. The Bridgeport Fire Department was assisted by Shinnston, Anmoore, and Nutter Fort Fire Departments.
 
FIRE 2
 
At 2:52 a.m. Sunday morning, the Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 47 Garden Circle. On the arrival of the fire department they found heavy fire showing from the rear of the structure and the garage area with heavy smoke through out the rest of the residences.
 
The two occupants of the structure were able to safely exit the residence before the arrival of the fire department. Two of the family pets K-9’s were unable to escape and were found by firefighters deceased.
 
The fire appears to have started on the back porch and the exact cause is still under investigation by Bridgeport Fire Department, Bridgeport Police Department and the West Virginia State Fire Marshall’s office.
 
There were no injuries to any of the firefighters and the home is declared a total loss. Bridgeport Fire Department was assisted on scene by Bridgeport Police Department and fire departments from Shinnston, Nutter Fort and Anmoore.
