PRESS RELEASE FROM CHIEF DEPUTY JEFF MCATEE

On Tuesday, the Harrison County Street Crimes and Drug Unit (SCAD) arrested Nathaniel Richard Reed, a 24, of Bridgeport, for delivery of Oxycodone, conspiracy to deliver Oxycodone, Interstate transportation of Oxycodone with intent to deliver and conspiracy to interstate transportation of Oxycodone with intent.  In addition Megan E. Cogar, 23, who lived with Reed in their Bridgeport home, was arrested for Conspiracy to Deliver Oxycodone.

Their arrests stems from an undercover operation the SCAD Unit conducted on July 27, 2014, in which an undercover operative working for SCAD purchased approximately $4,890 worth of Oxycodone from Reed and Cogar at their Bridgeport home. After the controlled purchase of Oxycodone was completed SCAD deputies executed a search warrant on Reed’s residence.  As a result of that search warrant SCAD deputies located approximately $6,826 in cash and a 9mm handgun. Through their investigation, SCAD, learned that Reed’s supplier would travel from Detroit, meeting Reed near Washington, PA, where Reed would purchase large quantities of Oxycodones and transport them back to West Virginia to sell. A single 30mg Oxycodone pill has a street value of $40. Oxycodone is commonly known as Percocet or Perc 30’s.

The house in question, according to McAtee, was situated in the trailer court heading up the road near the North Central West Virginia Airport. Reed was staying in that residence and another residence on Overlook. The Overlook residence was not searched as the buy was made near Airport Road, McAtee said.

Reed and Cogar were arraigned Tuesday by Harrison County Magistrate Frank Demarco. Both were released after posting a $100,000 bond.  All charges in this case are felonies.
