In just two months, Bridgeport Farmers Market will again be open at Charles Pointe.

 

“We are going into our 16^th season, and we will be at our usual Charles Pointe home at 100 Marketplace Avenue,” said Debbie Workman, BFM board of directors. “We will open May 19 and closing day is set for Oct. 13.”

 

During those 22 consecutive Sundays, the market will be open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

Community members can expect to have an array of fresh produce, eggs, grass-fed beef, pasture-raised chicken, hand-crafted items and many other products from which to choose.

 

Around 40 vendors have committed for the season; all of last year's vendors and a dozen new ones.  

 

Market shoppers can purchase honey and Beeswax Easter Egg candles from Howe Sweet, rhubarb and other seasonal produce from Green Thumb Botanicals, sweet treats from LeRoy’s Bakery, fresh flowers from Three Little Buds, sauces from Uncle Frankie’s, artisan items crafted by Loop Creative, soy candles from Dirty Hippie Co. and so much more.

 

Half of the new market vendors are farms. They will join Richardson Farm, Novak Farms, Green Acres Farm and Greenhouse, Davis Brothers, Inc. & The Vegetable Garden, Shipley’s Forest Hill Farm and others. 

 

“Everything found at the market is either grown, produced, handcrafted, or baked in the state of West Virginia,” Workman said. “We’ll again be hosting local authors and our resident poets – Bards of Yellowwood” - and we will have local musicians every week, courtesy of a sponsorship of Bridgeport Arts & Heritage Foundation.”

 

Bridgeport Public Library will visit the market every other week, giving locals a unique opportunity to check out books offsite. There will be a variety of food trucks from which to choose. On hand will be The Lunchbox Food Truck, Drifter Doughnut and others.

“You can shop, eat lunch and listen to live music,” she said. “There’s just something about the atmosphere. You can feel the enthusiasm.”

Among new vendors are food trucks, a bookstore, a baker, and activities geared to children.

 

Beginning April 14, Bridgeport Farmers Market will begin revealing new vendors for the 2024 season. Stay tuned at its Facebook and Instagram, as well as the BFM Web site HERE. A new vendor will be introduced each day.

 

Previously occupied by Greater Bridgeport CVB and Connect-Bridgeport, the building situate at 100 Marketplace Ave. is now owned by Community Care of West Virginia. Workman said BFM is grateful that the new owners have agreed to hosting the market on Sundays through October 2024.
