Bridgeport High School Announces Students of Month for February - Mia George and Tanner Saltis

Bridgeport High School Principal Matt DeMotto and the staff has announced Students of the Month for February. They are Mia George and Tanner Saltis.
 
Mia George is the daughter of Chris and Alicia George, and the sister of Kirstin and William George.
 
She was elected and has served as the Student Body Secretary for the past two years at BHS. Mia has been an influential member of the BHS Student Council, the Drug-Free Club, Spanish Club, and the Conservation and Recycling Club. In addition to these organizations, Mia is a proud member of the National Honor Society and has received an academic letter and lamp for her academic achievements.  
 
Mia is a four-year member of the BHS Track and Field team, was part of the 2018 State Championship Team, and qualified for the 2019 State meet in pole vault. Mia also was a two-year member of the BHS Volleyball Team that won the State Title in 2018.  
 
In her time away from school, Mia enjoys doing community service projects and participating in the GFWC Bridgeport Juniorettes where she served one year as the organization's secretary. She has volunteered for Shop for Tots, Wreathes Across America, Little League Challenger Division, the Clarksburg Mission, and the Harrison County Humane Society. She enjoys giving swim lessons in the summer at Bridgeport Country Club, where she is also employed for the summer seasons. Mia is a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish where she has spent several years teaching CCD classes in the parish and is a member of their Youth Group.  
 
Mia plans on attending WVU in the fall where she is a direct admit to the School of Nursing and will be a member of the WVU Honors College.  
 
Tanner Saltis is the son of Tim and Brandy Saltis. He has three siblings, Trenton, Kaleigh, and Trey Saltis.  
 
Tanner is a senior at BHS. He has played football since the age of 5. Starting from flag to all four years at BHS.  
 
His senior year he was selected for First team All-County Offense and Second team All-State Defense. He was also part of the 2019 Class AA State Championship team.  Playing football has been the highlight of his high school career.  
 
Tanner has also been on the honor roll all four years at BHS. He has worked hard and devoted himself academically. He also belongs to the drug free club and participated in the Shop for Tots program.  
 
Tanner enjoys attending church and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Grafton.  He likes spending time with his family and friends, watching sports, and camping.  
 
Tanner will be attending West Virginia University in the Fall. He plans to major in Elementary Education. He really enjoys working with kids and hopes to be an elementary teacher one day.
