Bridgeport High School Announces Students of Month for March - Madison Harton and Wesley Cotter

Bridgeport High School Principal Matt DeMotto and the staff has announced Students of the Month for March. They are Madison Harton and Wesley Cotter.
 
Madison Harton is the daughter of Jodie Whaley and William Harton. During her time at BHS, Madison has been an active member of Spanish National Honor Society where she serves as secretary, National Honor Society where she holds the position of corresponding secretary, and Conservation Club in which she is an executive board member. As secretary of Spanish Honorary, Madison assumed leadership in numerous activities ranging from fundraisers that aid Hispanic communities to organizing cultural events. She participated in Project Lift for the National Honor Society, a project designed to cheer up COVID patients during these challenging times, among various other community service activities. She has also been a member of Drug Free Club and Spanish Chub.  
 
Madison has been a four-year member of the BHS swim team. She is an American Red Cross certified lifeguard and has spent the past two summers working at Bridgeport City Pool and Maple Lake. The most enjoyable part of her job is regularly teaching swim lessons and she plans to continue these this summer.  
 
She has been an active member of the BHS media department since sophomore year. Madison frequently undertakes roles on the daily Indian Insider program, as well as editing and writing scripts at times. The entirety of Madison's media courses make up some of her favorite high school memories.  
 
Outside of school, Madison enjoys trying new coffee recipes, cooking (although it is not her strong suit), and spending time with family, friends, and her dogs Kato and Leo.  
 
Madison is a 2020 AP Scholar and has earned an academic lamp and letter for each year of high school. She plans to continue academic and extracurricular achievement at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Madison is majoring in biology on a pre-medicine track. After medical school, she plans to specialize in pediatrics and open a collaborative practice one day in the future.  
Wesley is the son of Tim and Suzy Cotter.
 
He is a senior at Bridgeport High and has been an enthusiastic participant of theatre since he was in the second grade.  
 
At BHS, Wes is the President of Thespian Troupe #7549 and a member of the Life League Suicide Prevention Club. Additionally, he is a member of the 2020-2021 Rustic Mechanicals Apprentice Troupe with Vintage Theatre Company.  
 
He is a HOBY WV and a HOBY World Leadership Congress alumni, and started his own non-profit organization Recover WV.
 
Wes is also a barista at Almost Heaven Desserts.  
 
He plans on attending Clemson University in the fall, majoring in Theatre and Business.
 
He stage-managed Elf in the fall of 2019. 
 
You may have also seen him in Bury the Dead as Private Dean, Barnum as the White-Faced Clown, Narnia as Edmund, Star-Crossed Lovers as Why/Romeo, Elephant's Graveyard as the Ringmaster, or A Midsummer Night's Dream as Quince, Much Ado About Nothing as Claudio at VTC in Clarksburg.
