The City of Bridgeport has set a date for this year’s Easter Egg Hunt for preschoolers. Featuring open play, crafts and meet and greet/photo ops with The Easter Bunny, the event takes place at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at The Bridge Sports Complex/CityNet Center.

The egg hunt begins promptly at 2 p.m. But beginning at 1:30 p.m., families can visit with the Easter Bunny. The meet and greet runs through 2:45 p.m.

Following the egg hunt, kids can engage in open play and create provided crafts.

The event is for kids ages 1 through 5. The little ones will be divided by age for the egg hunt which will feature thousands of candy-stuffed plastic eggs. Most likely, the event will take place on the turf inside CityNet Center.

Children should bring their own baskets or bags for the hunt. They may keep all the eggs they find, as well as the candy prizes inside. A limited number of golden eggs will be dispensed throughout. Each can be redeemed for a special prize.

“We encourage families with kids under 5 to come hunt eggs with us," said Bridgeport Recreation Coordinator Amy Callahan. "The eggs are easy for young kids to spot and a safe, flat area for them to run and search. It’s a great way for toddlers and young children to get in the Easter spirit.”

The annual event has always been very well attended and provides fun for little ones in the area. It will be held rain or shine. It is free to attend, and registration is not necessary.

The City of Bridgeport will also host a Bunny Hop Trail in coordination with Bridgeport StoryWalk. Kids of all ages and their families are invited to attend the event 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 at Bridgeport City Park.

“Come to City Park where we’ll have volunteers. Kids can walk around the trail, reading the featured holiday book, and we will provide eggs, candy, and a special treat along the way,” Callahan said.
