UPDATE: Bridgeport Police Department advises that the suspects in the shoplifting case described below have been identified. Readers are thanked for their calls and comments.

According to Bridgeport Police Officer, M.P. Hammond, authorities are still searching for two male subjects, caught on video surveillance shoplifting multiple items from Sheetz on Johnson Avenue.

The incident occurred on July 11, at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Both male subjects appear to have arrived and departed in a white pickup, possibly a Chevy Silverado, hauling lawn care equipment, Hammond said.

"Sheetz has a lot of cameras in the facility and we have been able to use footage not just from this incident, but they have multiple cameras in a great area which has been an asset to us for investigative purposes,” Hammond said. “There is footage of the suspects roaming the store and concealing various items on their persons.”

Video surveillance also features the vehicle – pulling the trailer with lawn care equipment and traveling toward I-79. Because of the trailer, police are unable to get a license plate number, Hammond said. It’s likely that the men were heading to and/or from an area job site.

The man in the green neon shirt pocketed the majority of items, including drinks, snacks, sunglasses and energy drinks, Hammond said. He did make one purchase – a pack of cigarettes, for which he paid cash. The man in the blue West Virginia shirt was seen taking a couple cans of energy drinks.

“There was a third gentleman in the parking lot, filling up the car while these two guys were shoplifting,” Hammond said.

The individual in the green neon T-shirt with cut-off sleeves was wearing denim shorts and dark colored shoes. He is a white male, likely in his late 20s to early 30s. He has a shaved head and dark complexion.

The individual wearing the dark blue WV shirt with cut-off sleeves also wore dark color shorts and shoes. He is also believed to be in his 20s to 30s with a shaved head.

This news posting is the first release of information to the public.

“Hopefully, we’ll get some tips,” Hammond said.

Anyone with information which may help identify these men - or their vehicle – are asked to contact Officer Hammond at 304-848-6124.
