Bridgeport Pool Announces Lineup of Summer Activities, Membership Rates

By Julie Perine on April 14, 2024 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The City of Bridgeport looks forward to blue skies and sunny days. Officials are counting down the days until the city pool facility is open for the summer. There are also a number of special events planned to interest kids and families.

The pool opens to the public Saturday, May 25 with free swimming between 12 and 6 p.m. If the pool happens to be closed for inclement weather, there will be no makeup day for the free swim day.

Season pool passes are now being sold. Forms can be picked up at Benedum Civic Center on West Main Street. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted for memberships, which start out at $90 for a resident child or senior pass. Adult passes are $100 per resident and $140 for non-residents. Family membership rates depend upon the number of people in the family. See further explanation of rates attached.
For those interested in renting the Boy Scout Room Thursdays through Sundays of the swim season, the rate is $50. Call Bridgeport Parks and Recreation 304-848-8240 for further information.

Mark your calendars now for a series of pool parties open to the public. On the evening of July 12, the first dive-in movie will be held. Barbie Night will feature the popular 2023 film, which will begin at dark. Swimming will be available 7-8:50 p.m. The movie will play on the inflatable 20x16 screen while families float in the pool or watch from poolside. The event will feature a Barbie theme with plenty of pink decorations, games, music and more.

On July 25, Bridgeport Parks and Recreation will host a Christmas in July pool party. The pool deck will be decorated with Christmas décor and there will be special guest appearances, as well as holiday music, games and special themed offerings available at the concession stand.

Moana night is Aug. 9. Appropriately, this event will be accompanied by a Hawaiian theme. Swimming will be available 6:30-8:20 p.m. with the movie starting at dark.

The dive-in movie nights are always popular and Bridgeport Recreation Coordinator Amy Callahan said her department is pleased to offer three new, unique events for this year's lineup. She also said regular family night rates apply to the trio of dive-in movie nights.
