Bridgeport Public Library Introduces Innovative Electronic Service

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on December 16, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Bridgeport Public Library introduces BookNews, a new online service for the community. This new information service includes a readers’ advisory component as well as the library’s calendar of events and news about upcoming programs for all ages.

The free electronic newsletters feature a wide variety of books included in the library’s collection and users select which genres interest them. Subscriptions are available by simply entering an email address. Newsletters are delivered on the 15th of every month to subscribers. To subscribe, click the BookNews button available at both of the library’s webpages: bridgportwv.com/library.cfm or youseemore.com/bridgeport. The buttons lead to the BookNews landing page featuring lists of newsletters to choose from. Newsletters are also viewable after the 15th of the month on the BookNews landing page.

Readers can select electronic newsletters based on genres including new fiction, new non-fiction, mystery, classics, business books, home and garden, and science fiction books. Newsletters containing books targeted at certain age groups such as children and teens are also available. The newsletters also offer lists of award winners. Newsletters contain book jacket summaries and direct links to the featured books in the library’s collection. Users may also read and write comments on the BookNews forum! Print versions of the library’s new newsletters will also be available at the circulation desks. If you have questions about this new library service, please contact Sarah at the library at 304-842-8248.
