Participating in Sunday’s “Fight Like a Girl” powderpuff football tournament were Bridgeport, Robert C. Byrd High School, Liberty, Lincoln and Doddridge County high schools.

Benefiting the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center in Morgantown, the event was held on the home field of the RCB Lady Eagles.

Claiming the championship was the Bridgeport Red Team, under the coaching of AC Caldera and Justin Richter. Because so many girls from Bridgeport were interested in playing, the school was also represented by the Bridgeport Green Team.

This year’s annual event was organized by Liberty High School student Tiffany Flanigan. Each year, a LHS student steps up to organize the event, which was started a few years ago by Dani Jo Robey. Upwards of $5,800 was raised at the 2013 game, which was held at Bridgeport High School’s Wayne Jamison Field.
