Bridgeport Resident, City Employee for 35 Years, Navy Veteran, Ronald E. Hornor, Passes Away at Age of 75

Ronald E. Hornor, 75, of Bridgeport, passed away on Saturday morning, October 7, 2023, at his residence. He was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Clarksburg on December 26, 1947, a son of the late Gerald and Pauline (Day) Hornor.
 
He is survived by his loving wife, Patti (Thomas) Hornor, whom he married August 4, 1969, in Shelby County, Illinois.
 
He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Karla Ledbetter and her husband Will of Parkers Lake, KY; grandchildren, Keaton Brien Hornor, Tommy Ledbetter, Shyann Ledbetter, and Silas Kane Ledbetter; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Hornor of Elkhart, IN; nephews, Bobby Hornor, Neal Hornor (Stephanie), Ritch Hornor (Trina); a niece, Jody Lynn Hornor of IN; cousins, Linda and Barry Redmond of GA, Kelly, Ryan, Mary Ashley and their families.
 
In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his son, Ronald Brien Hornor; his brother, Gerald Lynn Hornor of Elkhart, IN; aunts and uncles, Dorthea and Warren Fisher, and Matteline and Jim Dunbar of WV; grandparents, Robert Sidney Hornor and Sallie Hornor, and Homer C. Day and Minnie Blanche Day.
 
Ronald served in the US Navy from 1969 – 1972, and worked at the Washington State Naval Air Station until 1974. He had worked at Lockheed, and retired after 35 years as a Foreman for the City of Bridgeport. He was a member of the EC 4-Wheel Drive Association and was Baptist by faith.

A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2 p.m., with a time of fellowship and luncheon to follow at Boothsville Baptist Church.
