Bridgeport Units Dispatched to Two Morning Accidents

Bridgeport Police, Fire and EMS responded to two morning accidents – both in which the weather was a factor.

At 7:33 a.m., units were dispatched to Route 131 where a woman and two children were entrapped in a Mercury Sable after being sideswiped by a pick-up truck.

The driver of the Chevy Silverado lost control due to wet road conditions. After the Mercury Sable was sideswiped, it was knocked off road, said Bridgeport Police Officer Aaron Lantz, investigating officer. Bridgeport Fire/EMS was prepared to extricate the driver from the vehicle as she could not open her door, but she was able to climb out, said Bridgeport Fire Chief Bob Seccuro.

The three individuals in the Mercury were transported to United Hospital Center.

“We’ve had contact with the hospital and no one was seriously injured,” Lantz said.

The driver of the pick-up was unharmed. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. That accident happened at the entrance to Airport Road.

The second incident to which Bridgeport units were dispatched occurred on Meadowbrook Road, near the entrance to Custer Hollow/FBI Road.

Although that accident was not caused by wet roads, weather did play a role in that it created limited visibility, said Bridgeport Police Officer J.M. Frenzel.

“A Toyota Tacoma pick-up was traveling east on Meadowbrook Road, making a left-hand turn onto Custer Hollow/FBI Road,” Frenzel said. “Another vehicle – a Hyundai Sonata – was traveling west on Meadowbrook Road. Neither driver saw the other and they collided after the Sonata made it through the intersection.”

The driver of the Hyundai suffered possible injury, but refused treatment/hospital transfer, Frenzel said.
