On Thursday, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Departments Street Crimes and Drug Unit (SCAD) arrested Lanie R. Hofer for the felony charge of Operating a Clandestine Methamphetamine Lab in Bridgeport.

Thursday afternoon members of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department patrol division and the WV Department of Natural Resources (DNR) responded to a 911 call at the Stonewall Garden Apartment complex in Bridgeport in reference to a domestic.  Upon arrival DNR officer Ben Riley observed what he recognized as parts to a methamphetamine lab in Hofer’s apartment.

Officer Riley then notified the Sheriff’s Department’s SCAD unit which responded to the scene. Once on scene members of the SCAD unit located the “gas generator” portion of a meth lab in Hofer’s apartment and two inactive methamphetamines in garbage dumpster outside her apartment.

Hofer is a 28-year-old female who resides in Bridgeport. Hofer was charged with one count of Operating a Clandestine Methamphetamine Lab, a felony.

After her arrest Mrs. Hofer was transported to the North Central Regional Jail where she is being held on a $50,000 bond.

“When Methamphetamine labs are operated inside apartment complexes like this one, it creates an extremely dangerous situation, not only for those operating the lab but for everyone living there,” said Chief Deputy Jeff McAtee .
