Two Bridgeport students placed in the top four in the Harrison County Championship Spelling Bee held Jan. 11 at Liberty High School. The top five finishers advance to the Regional Spelling Bee. Placing third was Kira Gazal of Heritage Christian School and placing fourth was MacKenzie Gould of Bridgeport Middle School. First place was Savannah Jones of Lincoln Middle School. Placing second was Camden Southern of South Harrison Middle School. Mountaineer Middle School’s Melanie Pauley finished fifth. Gavin Young of Washington Irving Middle School will serve as alternate. The Regional Spelling Bee will take place 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Fairmont State University in the College of Fine Arts at Wallman Hall.
