A Tuesday night single-vehicle accident not only left a Honda Crosstour with extensive front-end damage, but also left a trail of destruction along West Philadelphia Avenue.

The property destruction call that was dispatched indicated that the vehicle hit several mailboxes and residential dumpsters, as well as a wall, said Bridgeport Police Lt. Doug Betler.

As of 9:40 p.m., shortly after the incident happened, Bridgeport Police had not assessed the damage to the wall – located below the Virginia Avenue intersection - but the other items – located above the intersection – were found damaged.

With a snarled right front end - damage sustained from hitting objects - the car, traveling east on Philadelphia Avenue, ultimately came to rest at a curb on the westbound lane, near the driveway to a residence.

The vehicle was occupied by a female driver, who was uninjured and immediately transported to Bridgeport Police Station with suspected DUI. The only passenger in the vehicle was a small dog. Proper authorities were contacted.

Traffic was reduced to one lane until the vehicle was removed. Bridgeport Police directed traffic and kept it moving.

The accident continues to be investigated by Bridgeport Police.
