United Hospital Center’s physicians, leaders, and clinicians recently received a Center of Distinction Award, which was given to UHC’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal. There were 635 Centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award, but only 427 achieved the honor.

“This national distinction for UHC Wound Care Center is well-deserved for delivering a high rate of healing outcomes and patient satisfaction by offering advanced wound care treatments to the patients of North Central West Virginia,” said John A. Adeniyi, M.D., vascular surgeon, medical director of UHC Wound Care Center. “It is a great achievement for our entire team as it is an indication of the level of commitment and compassion they exhibit daily.”

UHC Wound Care offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments include negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

“We are honored to have achieved this recognition as it demonstrates that we only provide the highest quality care,” said Susan Garner, M.D., physician at UHC Wound Care.” However, there is no greater reward than to see our patients heal through the hyperbaric wound care services we offer at UHC Wound Care.”
