On Saturday, June 15, MVB Bank will partner with Medbrook Children’s Charity to host Sleep in Heavenly Peace of Harrison County as they take part in Bunks Across America to build beds for children who do not have them.

 

Together, volunteers from the three organizations will work hand-in-hand to build beds from scratch for children in need throughout Harrison County. 

 

“Giving kids a bed of their own provides them with a safe and private space and leads to a good night’s rest, better performance in school, better social skills and much more,” said Dave Lang, Harrison County Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. “That’s my driving force.”

 

Bunks Across America is a national build day with all 119 chapters of Sleep in Heavenly Peace participating. This year, the build day is anticipated to generate over 6,000 beds from the hands of 9,000 volunteers. 

 

“Medbrook Children’s Charity’s mission statement calls for us to improve the lives of local children in need,” said Dr. Kelly Nelson, founder of Medbrook Children’s Charity and member of MVB Financial Board of Directors. “Being able to provide bedding for children certainly fits that mission.”

 

Saturday’s event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of MVB’s Operations Center at 113 Platinum Drive, Bridgeport. During this time, community members are invited to drop off donations of bedding for kids. New, regular size, twin sheets, pillowcases and comforters are needed.
