City Man that Owned Several Businesses, including Main Street Establishment, James Longwell, Passes

James “Jim” William Custer Longwell, 82, of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, at United Hospital Center.
 
Jim was born October 21, 1938, in Clarksburg, the son of the late Alberta Senora Custer Longwell and husband Herbert Kenneth Longwell and James William Glaspell.
 
Jim graduated from Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg, Class of 1956. He worked at PPG in the Float Glass Area until it closed. Jim drove a mail truck for Neff Trucking. He was owner of Ann Sounds Familiar, aka Jim’s Bar, a farm in Laurel Park, a mobile home park in Bridgeport and previously owned Mountain State Triumph Motorcycle Shop.
 
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, was a huge history buff and was a collector of many things. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
 
Jim is survived by his companion of over 20 years, Freda Virginia Gallo Wilson; children: James William Longwell, of Coventry Township, OH, Charles A. Longwell and Bridgette, of Point Pleasant, WV, Steven B. Longwell, of Eva Beach, HI, Suzanne Sharpless and Jim of New Franklin Township, OH, Michelle Doherty, of Newton Falls, OH, Reva Holloran, of Morgantown, and Rhonda Duggins, of NC; one brother, H.K. Longwell, of Clarksburg; one sister, Judy Sexton, of Charleston, WV; 11 grandchildren: Jennifer Schoenauer (Josh), Samantha Kruse (Stefan), Ashley Spitler (Michael), Amanda McAlexander (Caleb), Whitney Parrish (Michael), Chelsea Longwell (Jerad), Aaron Longwell, Kenny Longwell (Dakota), Colby Longwell, Grant Sharpless (Ashley), and Hope Sharpless (Brad); 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; Freda’s daughter, Kelly R. Wilson; Freda’s granddaughter, Stephanie N. Bittinger; Freda’s brother, Carl Lee Gallo; Freda’s niece, Rosemaria Scolapio; and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Longwell and Wayne Lee Longwell in infancy, and Freda’s son, John Wilson.
 
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301, on Monday, July 26, 2021 from 3-7 p.m.
 
A funeral service will be held in the Davis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jerry Lewis officiating.
 
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
