City Pool Opens Saturday with Free Splash Day

Bridgeport City Pool has been cleaned, spruced up and filled. Saturday, May 25, the facility will come into full summer swing as the annual "Splash Day" takes place. There is no admission charge for opening day, which runs noon through 6 p.m. Swimmers will have access to the pool and spray ground water park. The concession stand will be open, selling pizza, pepperoni rolls, drinks and summertime treats.  
 
Bridgeport Pool will thereafter be open 12:30-6 p.m. Sundays and 12-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday throughout the summer.
 
Pool admission is $4.50 for children age 3-11, $5.50 for ages 12 and over/adult and $4.50 for seniors age 55 and over. Kids under age 3 are admitted free. Discount tickets and season passes are currently available for purchase at the office of the Benedum Civic Center.
 
Beginning June 6, family swim nights will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Admission to family night is $3.50 for all ages. 
 
Michelle Leonard of Bridgeport Parks and Recreation said there is limited availablity for summer swim lessons. Summer pool passes are still available for purchase. Call Bridgeport Parks and Recreation at 304-842-8240 or stop in the office at the Benedum Civic Center. 
 
This summer will feature two dive-in movie events, shown poolside on a 16'x20' screen. 
 
Showing July 12 is "The Incredibles 2" and on Aug. 9, "Aquaman." The pool opens at 7 p.m. those evenings and regular family night rates apply. The movies will begin around 9 p.m. Pool rafts are welcome for movie viewing.

The following Saturday, June 1, will feature the Associated Businesses of Bridgeport Summer Kickoff and Food Truck Festival and the Bridgeport Parks and Recreation/Dick's Sporting Goods Fishing Tournament at Hinkle and Deegan Lakes.
