Ronald Kopp of Bridgeport passed away peacefully at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility on Sunday, May 24, 2020.

 

Ron was born on October 2, 1933, to Paul and Elizabeth Olean Kopp of Clarksburg.

 

After high school, Ron served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. Ron married Mary Diekmann of Weston and raised four sons.

 

Ron worked for over 40 years with Addresssograph Multigraph in the printing industry.

 

Ron loved to cook and he hosted many family reunions, as well as cooked for the Bridgeport crossing guards fundraisers and the City of Bridgeport Christmas parties. He also helped form the original City of Bridgeport VIP’s Patrol, and was a Scout Master for several years. Ron loved to camp, travel and spend time at the family farm. He would start cooking in July in order to keep his sons, grandson and friends fed at the hunting camp.

 

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elizabeth Kopp; wife, Mary Kopp; sister, Mary Jo Southern; son, Joseph Richard Kopp; companion, Ann Britton; and many friends and relatives.

 

Ron is survived by son, Paul Kopp of Clarksburg, son, Ronald Kopp, and wife Pam Kopp of Fleming Island FL, son, Thomas Kopp, and wife Cindy Kopp of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Kendra Kopp and fiancé Branden Vittitoe of Jacksonville, FL, Kayla Kopp of Jacksonville FL, Danielle Paulk and husband Tony Paulk of Morgantown, Thomas J. Kopp and wife Katherine Kopp of Morgantown; and great-grandchildren, Bradley, Westly and Layla Paulk of Morgantown, and Aubrie Kopp of Morgantown. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.

 

The family would like to thank the many caregivers that took care of Ron over the years, the dedicated staff at the Veterans Nursing Home, and the many friends who would call and visit. Next to family and food, visiting with people was his favorite thing.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday, May 28, 2020, from 5-8 p.m. Due to Covid-19, the family requests that if you attend the visitation to please wear a mask for everyone’s safety.

 

Catholic Burial Rites will be held privately for the family on Friday, May 29, 2020, and entombment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
