A federal grand jury returned an indictment Tuesday charging Timothy Lamon Cavender, Jr., 25, of Duquesne, Pennsylvania, and Holly Myers, 38, of Clarksburg with heroin trafficking, United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced.

Cavender was discovered in possession of heroin in December 2014 near Clarksburg. He is charged with one count of “Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin.” He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000,000.00.

Myers is alleged to have repeatedly sold heroin throughout August 2014. She is charged with three counts of “Distribution of Heroin.” She faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000,000.00 on each count.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Morgan is prosecuting the cases on behalf of the government. The Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, is investigating both defendants. The Bridgeport Police Department has members on the Task Force. Chief John Walker is the chairman.

An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendants.
