Starting back in 1990 with a remake of “Night of the Living Dead,” Clarksburg’s Greg Mason built an acting career that most recently has consisted of faith-based, family-friendly flicks.

His latest role is Uncle McKinney in “Wild Faith,” a movie created by Collective Development Incorporated, starring Lana Wood of the 1970s James Bond film “Diamonds Are Forever” and Darby Hinton of the TV series, “Daniel Boone,” which aired on NBC during the same era. The motion picture, available for purchase through Amazon or Walmart, is narrated by country music artist Trace Adkins.

Filmed in Michigan, “Wild Faith” is about 19th century life in Michigan – where filming took place – and it focuses on a Civil War veteran trying to make peace with his losses and start a new life.

Serving as an extra in “Night of the Living Dead,” Mason went on to secure speaking roles in more than 50 films and membership in the Screen Actors Guild.

It was after an extensive acting career that he developed a rapport with the producers, directors and acting family of CDI, going on to act in seven of their feature films.

“We are a family on set and off set,” Mason said. “We have respect and admiration for each other’s acting and directorial and production insights.”

Recent projects have also included “Man’s Best Friend,” in which he plays the role of Jim, landlord of the man character, played by DJ Perry, CEO of Collective Development Incorporated.

“I’m 68 years old and I’ve worked for myself basically, trying to look for these movie opportunities,” he said. “I just like acting basically. I like doing these faith-based movies that anyone can watch. They are family-friendly. They have a point to them and some of them bring tears to your eyes.”

It’s been fun and interesting to step into all the different characters – including some “bad guy” roles. From memorizing lines to interacting with his fellow actors, Mason has enjoyed his acting career to date and plans to pursue more opportunities.

He was born in Fairmont, after which his family relocated to McDonald, Pa. where his dad was employed. He moved back to the area in 1970 and currently lives in Clarksburg.
