Co-Owner of Multiple County Businesses and Car Hop at City's Ellis Drive-In, Betty Cain, Passes at 76

Betty Cain, 76, of Lumbeport went to be with our Lord Monday, February 24, 2020, after a long illness.
 
Betty Lucille Carpenter is the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Mildred (Barnes) Carpenter from Clarksburg’s Pinni-Kinnick coal camp.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Robert L. “Bob” Cain; beloved daughter Ida “Dollie” Menendez Lantz Walker; brothers Jim and Dave Carpenter of Indiana; Denzil Carpenter of P-K; and infant brother, Richard.
 
Betty is survived by her children, Bob Cain and wife Sheila of Lumberport, Mark Cain of Lumberport, and Alisa A. Willis Sylvester and husband Chip of Bridgeport; former son-in-law Charles E. Willis of Dawson Mines; and grandchildren, Cassi and Ryan Poster, Brock Willis and fiancée Morgan Lantz, Aaron Cable, Amanda Cain and Kyle Johnson, Sheena and Travis Hyre, Anna Lee Cain, Elly Lantz, Kenny Lantz, Jennifer Walker, and Isiah Willis. Betty was also blessed with many great-grandchildren.
 
Betty held many jobs over her lifetime. She worked at Bridgeport Ellis Drive-In as a car hop, Eagle Convex Glass, Jays Plastics in Ohio, and her main occupation outside of wife and mother was business partner with her husband’s many businesses. She worked at Bob’s Auto Sales, Gypsy Auto Wrecking, Discount Auto Mart, M&B Auto Sales, Gypsy Auction House, Bob’s Auto Wrecking and Cain’s Towing. After Bob’s passing, Betty worked as an in-home caregiver and at Christina’s Hot Spot in Anmoore.
 
Betty enjoyed music, playing cards, spending time with her sister, Mary Hollandsworth of Ashland, OH, and her family: Savila “Grace” Carpenter, whom she made her home with and took care of her; and Linda Carpenter.
 
 
Betty was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her, a love she generously reciprocated.
 
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, from 4-8 p.m.
 
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Chad Hutson presiding.
 
Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
