At Monday night's Bridgeport City Council meeting, a couple of economic development matters will be taken care of.

Following this morning's meeting of the Bridgeport Development Authority, Council will review and consider an economic development grant for Lodgeville Estates.

"This morning, we reviewed this and will make a recommendation to the City to award an economic development grant for 50 percent of construction costs and (business and occupation) taxes realized off it."

Also Monday night, Councilman Darrell Bowen will be considered for reappointment to the Bridgeport Development Authority.

"Darrell has served on the board. He was the Council rep and now he wants to continue to serve on the board," said Community Development Director Randy Spellman. "We have the position that Jeff Smell had and he's now the Council rep so they've sort of flip-flopped."

With regard to the Bridgeport Police Civil Service Commission, Council will approve the FOP reappointment of Steve Randolph.

City Engineer Tom Brown will provide his annual report to Council, encompassing activity with regard to infrastructure projects such as storm water and sewage as well as paving and other city projects falling under his department.

"I'll basically just be bringing Council up to date on what we do and projects that have been going on during the last year," he said.

Council will also approve and adopt current replacement pages to the codified ordinances.

"Walter Drane, the company that manages our city code online, does this every year," said City Clerk Andrea Kerr. "It's a formality. I send them all approved ordinances for the year, they insert them into our code book and then Council approves that in the form of an ordinance."

Finally, the governing body will consider and approve an amended City of Bridgeport Freedom of Information Act Policy.

"The legislature passed a law this year that changes the way FOIA requests are charged," Kerr said. "Some items of the state statute changed and that will be reflected in our amended policy that Council will approve."

Mayor Bob Greer and City Manager Kim Haws will provide reports and Council will address any citizens who wish to make public comment. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at City Council Chambers at Bridgeport Municipal Complex.
