DHHR Reports 1,122 New Cases of COVID-19; Harrison County's Number at 977; State Deaths at 623

Editor's Note: Starting Aug. 1 the DHHR switched to just one COVID-19 statistic update per day. The daily reports are scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.
 
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Thursday, Nov. 19) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 36,277 to 37,399 an increase of 1,122 cases.
 
Wednesday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 972,894 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 3.39 percent. The daily percent positive is at 5.22 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 977 (893 confirmed cases, 84 probable cases), 351 active cases, and 15 deaths with 611 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the virus increased from 612 to 623.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of an 87-year old female from Cabell County, a 70-year old male from Harrison County, a 68-year old male from Berkeley County, a 75-year old male from Ohio County, a 74-year old male from Marshall County, an 82-year old male from Kanawha County, a 63-year old female from Tyler County, a 92-year old female from Marshall County, an 85-year old male from Kanawha County, a 64-year old male from Wood County, and a 62-year old male from Kanawha County.
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 25,133  with active cases at 11,643.  
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 415 hospitalizations.
