DHHR Reports 1,152 New COVID-19 Cases; Harrison County's Number at 1,387 State Death Total at 729

Editor's Note: Starting Aug. 1 the DHHR switched to just one COVID-19 statistic update per day. The daily reports are scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.
 
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Sunday, Nov. 29) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 45,845 to 46,997; an increase of 1,152 cases.
 
Sunday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 1,108,684 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 3.61 percent. The daily percent positive is at 4.79 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 1,387 (1,160 confirmed cases, 227 probable cases), 673 active cases, and 21 deaths with 693 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the virus has increased from 718 to 729. 
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 49-year old female from Harrison County, a 73-year old male from Kanawha County, a 47-year old female from Kanawha County, a 79-year old female from Kanawha County, an 82-year old male from Kanawha County, a 91-year old female from Cabell County, a 97-year old male from Putnam County, a 68-year old male from Wood County, a 97-year old female from Greenbrier County, a 97-year old female from Mineral County, and an 84-year old male from Marion County.
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 29,898  with active cases at 16,370.  
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 556 hospitalizations as of Nov. 28.
