DHHR Reports 238 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Number at 4,810; State Deaths at 2,263

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Monday, Feb. 22) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 129,616 to 129,854; an increase of 238.
 
Monday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 2,119,158 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given was 5.51 percent. The daily percent positive is at 4.84 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 4,810 (3,408 confirmed cases, 1,402 probable cases), 527 active cases, and 70 deaths with 4,213 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the virus has increased from 2,261 to 2,263.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 71-year old male from Kanawha County and a 75-year old female from Kanawha County.
 
“This is an incredibly difficult time for the families and friends of these West Virginians,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary.  “We offer our deepest sympathies to these families.”
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 118,796 with active cases at 8,795. 
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 294 hospitalizations as of Feb. 21.
