DHHR Reports 364 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Number at 5,246; State Deaths at 2,722

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Wednesday, April 7) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 144,010  to 144,374 ; an increase of 364. 
 
Wednesday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 2,508,198 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 5.24 percent. The daily percent positive is at 3.76 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 5,246 (3,630 confirmed cases,1,616 probable cases), 321 active cases, and 79 deaths with 4,846 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus increased from 2,707 to 2,722.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 76-year old male from Berkeley County, an 81-year old female from Cabell County, an 88-year old female from Putnam County, a 62-year old female from Mercer County, a 71-year old male from Cabell County, an 81-year old female from Kanawha County, a 54-year old male from Raleigh County, an 86-year old male from Wetzel County, an 86-year old female from Putnam County, an 81-year old male from Fayette County, an 81-year old female from Grant County, an 82-year old male from Monongalia County, an 85-year old male from Wetzel County, an 85-year old male from Jefferson County, and an 83-year old female from Mercer County.
 
“We mourn with these families, and all who have lost a loved one to COVID-19,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary.
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 134,755 with active cases at 6,897. 
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 271 hospitalizations as of April 6.
