DHHR Reports 370 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Number at 5,405; State Deaths at 2,785

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Sunday, April 18) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 148,517 to 148,887; an increase of 370. 
 
Sunday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 2,611,346 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 5.20 percent. The daily percent positive is at 4.30 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 5,405 (3,776 confirmed cases,1,629 probable cases), 110 active cases, and 85 deaths with 5,210 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus increased from 2,780 to 2,785.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 63-year old female from Kanawha County, an 81-year old male from Kanawha County, a 92-year old female from Harrison County, a 63-year old female from Berkeley County, and an 88-year old male from Mineral County.
 
“We are saddened to report the loss of more West Virginians,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “We extend our sympathies to the affected families.”
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 138,712 with active cases at 7,390. 
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 232 hospitalizations as of April 16.
