DHHR Reports 395 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Active Cases at 68; State Deaths at 7,416

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Friday, Sept.30) the total number of  COVID-19 cases has increased to 600,558 with an increase of 385 new cases since the last update.
 
Friday's report shows the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 8.56 percent. The daily percent positive is at 5.30.
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 24,372 (16,169 confirmed and 8,203 probable). Harrison County's active cases are at 68. There have been 24,035 recoveries and 269 deaths.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The state's cumulative number of COVID-releated deaths is at 7,416 with 10 deaths reported since the previous report.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 77-year old female from Greenbrier County, a 46-year old male from Logan County, an 80-year old male from Harrison County, a 46-year old female from Clay County, a 78-year old male from Logan County, an 81-year old male from Lincoln County, an 87-year old female from Mason County, an 80-year old female from Upshur County, a 97-year old female from Cabell County, and a 79-year old female from Harrison County. “I urge each of you to make the choice to be up-to-date with COVID vaccines and boosters to help stop further loss of life,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “Please remember these West Virginians and their contributions to our state.”
 
There are 1,233 active cases and there have been 591,909 recoveries.
 
According to the DHHR site, as of Sept. 29, there are 220 hospitalizations with 40 patients in ICUs and 13 on ventilators.
