DHHR Reports 400 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Number at 5,473; State Deaths at 2,808

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Thursday, April 22) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 149,888  to 150,288; an increase of 400. 
 
Thursday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 2,643,797 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 5.19 percent. The daily percent positive is at 4.04 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 5,473 (3,823 confirmed cases,1,650 probable cases), 147 active cases, and 85 deaths with 5,241 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus has increased from 2,800 to 2,808.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 75-year old female from Morgan County, a 57-year old male from Kanawha County, a 78-year old female from Mingo County, a 57-year old male from Logan County, an 81-year old female from Nicholas County, a 78-year old female from Wyoming County, a 72-year old male from Kanawha County, and an 80-year old female from Boone County.
 
“We remember all loved ones who have been lost to COVID-19,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. 
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 140,154 with active cases at 7,324. 
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 246 hospitalizations as of April 21.
