DHHR Reports 475 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Number at 5,377; State Deaths at 2,777

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Friday, April 16) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 147,596 to 148,071; an increase of 475. 
 
Friday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 2,592,544 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 5.21 percent. The daily percent positive is at 4.31 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 5,377 (3,759 confirmed cases,1,618 probable cases), 117 active cases, and 84 deaths with 5,176 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus increased from 2,772 to 2,777.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 64-year old female from Jackson County, a 45-year old male from Harrison County, a 42-year old female from Logan County, a 95-year old female from Jackson County, and an 84-year old male from Wyoming County.
 
“We offer our deepest sympathy to the families as our state grieves additional losses due to COVID-19,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. 
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 136,272 with active cases at 7,272. 
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 234 hospitalizations as of April 15.
