DHHR Reports 5,061 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Active Cases at 577, State Deaths at 5,516

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Friday, Jan. 14) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 372,674 to 377,735; an increase of 5,061 over the previous 24 hours.
Friday's report shows the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 7.14 percent. The daily percent positive is at 19.12 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 14,982 (10,065 confirmed and 4,917 probable). Harrison County's active cases are at 577, there have been 14,197 recoveries and 208 deaths.
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.
The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus is at 5,516 with 13 deaths reported during the previous 24 hours.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of January 14, 2022, there are currently 17,364 COVID-19 cases statewide. There have been 13 deaths reported since the last report, with a total of 5,516 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 66-year old male from Mineral County, a 73-year old male from Jefferson County, an 83-year old male from Jefferson County, a 57-year old male from Raleigh County, a 33-year old female from Monroe County, a 58-year old female from Mason County, a 79-year old female from Monongalia County, a 68-year old male from Doddridge County, a 78-year old male from Wood County, an 86-year old female from Jefferson County, a 63-year old male from Taylor County, an 88-year old male from Jefferson County, and an 83-year old female from Harrison County.
“The continued loss of West Virginians weighs heavily on all of us, with the greatest sadness borne by family and friends,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “Please take every effort to protect one another.”
There are currently 17,364 active cases statewide. Active cases now reflect an active status length of five days instead of 10 to coincide with revised CDC guidelines.
There have been 354,854 recoveries.
According to the DHHR site, as of Jan. 14, there are 846 hospitalizations with 206 patients in ICUs and 130 on ventilators.
