DHHR Reports 532 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Number at 4,253; State Deaths at 1,899

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Monday, Jan. 25) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 115,307 to 115,839; an increase of 532
 
Monday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 1,842,725 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 5.57 percent. The daily percent positive is at 8.43 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 4,253 (3,045 confirmed cases, 1,208 probable cases), 1,443 active cases, and 50 deaths with 2,760 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the virus has increased from 1,895 to 1,899.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 78-year old female from Fayette County, a 68-year old male from Jackson County, a 94-year old male from Fayette County and a 56-year old female from Cabell County.
 
“Each death of a West Virginian is a loss if felt by all,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “We extend our sincere condolences to these families and encourage continued abidance of the guidelines and safety measures.”
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 88,575 with active cases at 24,365. 
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 597 hospitalizations as of Jan. 24.
