DHHR Reports 877 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Active Cases at 393; State Deaths at 4,292

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Monday, Oct. 25) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 265,006 to 267,398; an increase of 2,392, including 877 during the previous 24 hours..
 
Monday's report shows the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 6.09 percent. The daily percent positive is at 7.51 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 10,939 (7,395 confirmed and 3,651 probable). Harrison County's active cases are at 393, there have been 10,510 recoveries and 143 deaths.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus has increased from 4,263 to 4,292.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a61-year old female from Cabell County, a 70-year old female from Hardy County, a 59-year old male from Nicholas County, a 51-year old male from Harrison County, a 92-year old male from Ritchie County, a 63-year old male from Kanawha County, a 40-year old male from Logan County, a 76-year old female from Berkeley County, a 59-year old female from Harrison County, a 68-year old female from Wood County, a 47-year old male from Greenbrier County, a 56-year old male from Berkeley County, an 84-year old male from Tucker County, an 82-year old female from Fayette County, an 87-year old male from Raleigh County, a 75-year old male from Wood County, a 76-year old male from Putnam County, a 58-year old male from Wyoming County, a 58-year old male from Nicholas County, a 70-year old female from Putnam County, a 59-year old male from Gilmer County, a 60-year old female from Roane County, a 71-year old male from Ohio County, a 45-year old female from Hancock County, a 91-year old male from Harrison County, a 54-year old male from Lewis County, a 59-year old female from Mason County, an 88-year old male from Hampshire County, and a 60-year old female from Kanawha County.
 
“We extend our sympathy to all of the families affected by these deaths,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “To West Virginians who are eligible, but not yet vaccinated, know that getting vaccinated is the key to stopping the spread of COVID-19.”
 
There are currently 7,867 active cases statewide with 255,239 recoveries.
 
According to the DHHR site, as of Oct. 24, there are 650 hospitalizations with 198patients in ICUs and 123 on ventilators.
