DHHR Reports Increase of 120 Cases of COVID-19; Harrison County's Number at 344; State Deaths at 319

Editor's Note: Starting Aug. 1 the DHHR switched to just one COVID-19 statistic update per day. The daily reports are scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Wednesday, Sept. 23) at 10 a.m., the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 14,384 to 14,504; an increase of 120. Today's report was delayed for nearly two hours.
Wednesday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 525,236 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 2.76 percent. The daily percent positive is at 3.35 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 344 (343 confirmed cases, 1 probable case), 87 active cases, and eight deaths with 249 recoveries.
As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.
Also, the DHHR is reporting the number of statewide deaths has increased from 317 to 319. DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 91-year old female from Kanawha County and an 80-year old male from Kanawha County.
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 10,721 with active cases at 3,464.
According to the DHHR site, there are 163 hospitalizations.
