DHHR Reports Increase of 202 Cases of COVID-19; Harrison County's Number at 346; State Deaths at 325

Editor's Note: Starting Aug. 1 the DHHR switched to just one COVID-19 statistic update per day. The daily reports are scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Thursday, Sept. 24) at 10 a.m., the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 14,504 to 14,706; an increase of 202.
Thursday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 528,658 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 2.78 percent. The daily percent positive is at 4.11 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 346 (345 confirmed cases, 1 probable case), 89 active cases, and eight deaths with 249 recoveries.
As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.
Also, the DHHR is reporting the number of statewide deaths has increased from 319 to 325. DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 96-year old female from Mason County, a 62-year old female from Fayette County, a 72-year old male from Fayette County, an 86-year old male from Kanawha County, a 69-year old female from Kanawha County, and an 89-year old male from Pleasants County.
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 10,831 with active cases at 3,550.
According to the DHHR site, there are 173 hospitalizations.
