Editor's Note: Starting Aug. 1 the DHHR switched to just one COVID-19 statistic update per day. The daily reports are scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Tuesday, Oct. 20) at 10 a.m., the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 20,293 to 20,519 an increase of 226.

Tuesday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 690,803 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 2.84 percent. The daily percent positive is at 3.01 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).

According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 624 (601 confirmed cases, 23 probable cases), 196 active cases, and 10 deaths with 417 recoveries.

Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. Such is the case of Harrison County in this report.

Because of that, the dashboard has Harrison County at 624. The cases per county below has it at 625.

The total number of deaths related to the virus increased by nine and is now at 408. DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 44-year old female from Cabell County, a 78-year old female from Clay County, an 88-year old female from Ohio County, a 77-year old male from Marshall County, a 71-year old male from Logan County, a 70-year old male from Logan County, a 90-year old female from Harrison County, a 65-year old male from Brooke County, and an 86-year old male from Cabell County.
