DHHR Reports Increase of 483 Cases of COVID-19; Harrison County's Number at 648; State Deaths at 432

Editor's Note: Starting Aug. 1 the DHHR switched to just one COVID-19 statistic update per day. The daily reports are scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.
 
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Tuesday, Oct. 27) at 10 a.m., the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 22,223 to 22,706; an increase of 483.
 
Tuesday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 742,191 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 2.87 percent. The daily percent positive is at 3.47 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 648 (622 confirmed cases, 26 probable cases), 195 active cases, and 12 deaths with 441 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the virus increased from 424 to 432. DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 79-year old male from Upshur County, an 89-year old male from Cabell County, a 79-year old female from Cabell County, a 57-year old male from Kanawha County, an 83-year old male from Fayette County, an 87-year old female from Jefferson County, an 83-year old female from Cabell County, and a 54-year old male from Raleigh County.
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 17,846 with active cases at 4,428
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 221 hospitalizations.
