Davisson Brothers Band Team up with Australia's Amber Lawrence to Record "Greatest Show on Earth"

Climbing the charts in the U.S. and Australia, the “Greatest Show on Earth” is the latest single by the Davisson Brothers. Recorded in collaboration with renowned Aussie entertainer Amber Lawrence and accompanied by a music video featuring fans worldwide, the project packs a double punch.

“It’s already charted in Australia’s top 40 and will be added to CMT.com video and is available in all digital outlets,” said Chris Davisson, lead guitarist and band spokesman. “The Rolling Stones just bid our world video premiere, which is amazing. We’ve had so much good stuff happening over this song.”

It’s all been amazing, especially considering the circumstances behind the recording of the band’s most recent tune.

When 2020 rolled around, The Davisson Brothers Band – also featuring Donnie Davisson (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Russell Reppert (bass guitar, background vocals) and Aaron Regester (drums) – were planning another year of public appearances.

“We were amped up for touring. In fact, we were getting ready to tour more heavily than we ever had in the past,” Chris said. “We were going to be touring the world. We had plans to be in Australia doing some promo and going about our normal routine.”

But along came mid-March and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“And obviously, the music industry kind of shut down immediately,” Chris said. “It was very life-changing for the Davisson Brothers Band.”

The quarantine featured some low-key downtime for Chris and Donnie Davisson.

“We hung around the farm, working the property, trout fishing and doing absolutely anything you can do outdoors in the West Virginia,” Chris said. “We were getting a little antsy and started reaching out to people on social media, doing some performances online."

The virtual shows were appreciated by their friends and fans – and they also grabbed the attention of Lawrence.

“We got a message from her out of the blue. She’s an artist we had performed with in Australia and she also has her own radio show,” Chris said.

The country music singer/songwriter has recorded six albums and is the recipient of four CMAA Golden Guitar awards. She is the face of iHeartRadio Australia Country, hosting the weekly show. She is also a guest presenter on “Getaway” and co-hosted the 2017 CMC Music Awards and 2019 Golden Guitar awards.

“Amber had watched some of my brother Donnie’s social media posts around the barn with the animals and garden and said she loved seeing his posts on Instagram,” Chris Davisson said. “She asked if we would be interested in doing a live interview with her and catching up with us.”

It was an immediate affirmative answer.

Lawrence made plans and later arrived at the farm – acoustic guitar in hand.

Not only did the interview go very well, but Lawrence delivered a very unexpected gift.

“We hadn’t expected this Australian artist to learn one of our songs and perform it for us,” Chris said.

The song, of course, was “Po’ Boyz,” the 2018 hit single from the band’s album, “Fighter.”

“After thanking her, it crossed my mind – ‘why don’t we ask Amber to write a song about what we’re all going through in the world today,’” Chris said. “She was all about it. She said ‘I’ll be happy and honored to write with you guys.’”

The writing team not only included the Davissons and Lawrence, but also Rob Snyder, who has penned tunes for DBB as well as Luke Combs.

“We met on Zoom one evening, which was early morning for Amber,” Chris said. “She came in with an idea. She had a title – ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ – in her notebook for a while and said she’d like to write to that title.”

Everyone was on board.

“We ended up writing the song in about two hours,” Chris said. “A lot of songs you write like that never come to light; most of them probably.”

But the tune was sent to the band’s record label, publisher and management – all who were quite enthusiastic about it.

“My entire team in Nashville went nuts over this song,” Chris said. “A week later, we were in the studio recording and Amber was in Australia recording. It was really neat.”

Since April, the team has worked hard promoting the song and creating a video under the hand of Steve Condon.

“We thought why not include fans from all over the world in this video, uniting everyone and letting them know we’re thinking about them and that there are better days ahead for all of us,” Chris said. “We ended up going with that idea.”
