Just after noon Tuesday, two vehicles collided on West Main Street/Route 50, sending one individual to United Hospital Center.

Lt. John Post of Bridgeport Police Department said a gold Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound on Route 50, turning into the Home Depot shopping plaza parking lot and a silver BMW was traveling westbound on Route 50.

The driver of the Taurus failed to yield right of way, cut across the intersection to turn into the parking lot and was struck by the BMW. An occupant of the BMW was transported to UHC by Anmoore EMS. Three other individuals involved in the accident refused transport, said Bridgeport Fire Chief Phil Hart.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Dan Riggs Towing and are believed to be total losses. Traffic was not impaired, Post said, as only one lane was shut down temporarily.

The call for the accident was dispatched at 12:10 p.m.
