Sunday afternoon, 18 Bridgeport students were inducted into the French Honorary, a national organization recognized by the American Association of Teachers of French. To be eligible for membership, students must have taken French 3, maintain an A average in French classes (3.5 or higher) and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

 

Madame Deanna Garrett opened the ceremony and thereafter turned it over to club officers, who talked about the society and its goals and explained eligibility requirements.

 

Co-President Annalivia McFee introduced candidates as Garrett and Co-President Minahal Naveed accepted them into membership with a handshake after a candlelight initiation and after each signed the official roll.

 

New members are Stephanie Alvaro, Bailey Campbell, Samuel Cale, Chance Daugherty, Seth Friel, Mackenzie Griffith, Zak Kimble, Rachel Lamm, Victoria McDaniels, Sydney McDonald, Neyha Naveed, Christian Olivio, Jacob Perine, Megan Rinker, Falon Snodgrass, Diana Weir, Rachel White and Joseph Wright. There were other French students who qualified, but who were not available for Sunday’s ceremony. Those still eligible will be invited to join again next year.

 

Other officers of this year's BHS French Honorary Club are Vice President Ameera Salman, Secretary Eva MacFarland, Treasurer Amna Kaque and Publicist Katie Mossburg. Also present were some current members of the honorary.

 

In addition to those already mentioned, current members are Taylor Abraham, Lindsey Berardi, Savannah Blythe, Loudeline Chapman, Kayleigh Church, Abbey Cottrill, Autumn Fiest, Emily Griffith, Julie Johnson, Alexis Jones, Timmy Kinney, Molly Layne, Hannah McCall, Sarah Momen, Trey Reed, Sarah Reppert, Paige Rice, Titus Smith, Mackenzie Steele, Ryley Sturm, Shae Tomasik, Emily Trickett and Josh Wright.  

 

Following the ceremony, a reception took place in the school cafeteria.
