Fall/Winter 2017 Issue of WV Weddings Features Brides and Grooms from Immediate Area

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 19, 2017 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The Fall/Winter issue of West Virginia Weddings has plenty of local flavor, featuring brides and grooms from the immediate area; some from Bridgeport.

Among couples included in the wedding register are Clarksburg’s Stephanie June Alfred and John James Iaquinta. The couple married Sept. 17, 2016 at Bridgeport United Methodist Church with a reception to follow at Pete Dye Golf Club. They met while Alfred worked at Iaquinta’s family restaurant, Julio’s Café in Clarksburg. They were engaged in Hilton Head and after marrying in the same church where two generations of family members had before, the newlyweds honeymooned at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The bride chose an A-line gown featuring a nude, two-tone body lining, soft tulle skirt and semi-cathedral train. The groom selected a classic black tuxedo and bow tie. The new Mrs. Iaquinta was one of the magazine’s editor picks for best bridal portrait. Area wedding vendors involved in the nuptials are Oliverio’s Bridal and Prom Boutique, Pete Dye Golf Club, Almost Heaven Desserts & Coffee Shop and Bonnie Belle’s Pastries.

The issue also features Bridgeport High School alumna Lauren Deanna Gilbert, who on Feb. 20, 2016, married Jason Vincent Smith. They met during their first day of orientation for West Virginia University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program and became engaged in Laguna Beach, Calif. almost exactly one year prior to their wedding. The ceremony took place at Golf Shores Wedding Chapel in Alabama with a reception held at a beach house in Orange Beach. Gilbert wore a mermaid-style gown and carried white flowers and seashells and Smith sported a khaki linen suit. The couple honeymooned at multiple beaches on the Gulf and Atlantic coasts of Florida, then in West Virginia. They live in Monroe, NC.

It was the Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown where Bridgeport’s Ford Willis Green married Sara Katherine Schnably of Charles Town. They met while she worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, a college internship. They became engaged in December of 2015 and tied the knot on Oct. 8, 2016. A very special element of the ceremony included the lighting of a candle to honor the memory of Green’s mother, Cheryl, who passed away unexpectedly just a month before the wedding The bride’s gown, purchased from Bridgeport’s House of Fashions, was a V-neck halter-style dress with purple accents. The groom wore light gray tuxedo, also with purple accents. Appropriately, the wedding was themed “Going Green;” all decos made with recycled/repurposed materials. Providing entertainment for the reception was Bridgeport’s Greg Harrison.

Owner of Preferred Properties in Bridgeport, Thomas Alan Cohen took Ripley’s Cara Linn Waybright as his bride on Sept. 30, 2016, about eight months after a very clever proposal. Thinking she was going to approve one of Cohen’s house flip projects, she found out that if she liked it and could envision the 1940s Spring Hill Chapel as a home, the couple could one day live there. Inside was a proposal in the form of a winter wonderland scene. Married in the upper Senate wing of the State Capitol, the bride wore an ivory Mori Lee wedding gown with custom Sarah Gabriel veil. Cohen wore a classic black tuxedo and bow tie.

Bridgeport’s Ashley Elizabeth Todd and Casey Dean Mossallati are also featured in the registry pages. The newlyweds have known each other since they both attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Clarksburg. After dating for about eight years, they were engaged in July of 2014 and married Sept. 30, 2016 in Deep Creek, Md. It was a private ceremony; the bride wearing a short, lacy, white dress purchased from Oliverio’s Bridal and Prom Boutique and her groom in a classic suit and tie. Oliverio’s Florist provided the flowers, including the bride’s bouquet of pink and white roses, and Bonnie Belle’s Pastries made the simple white wedding cake topped with a sparkly “M” monogram. The new Mrs. Mossallati is a teacher at St. Mary’s Grade School and her husband is employed by Mylan Pharmaceuticals.

Though not from the immediate area, Greenwood’s Kaycee Nicole Hill and Harrisville’s Shawn Michael Jett chose the Bridgeport area for their wedding ceremony. On Oct. 8, 2016, they married at Pete Dye Golf Club, utilizing the services of local businesses Oliverio’s Bridal and Prom Boutique and Almost Heaven Desserts & Coffee Shop. From the boutique, Hill purchased her ivory, long-sleeved scalloped lace, belted gown. Almost Heaven Desserts created the couple’s classic wedding cake with vanilla icing and a groom’s cake designed to represent the groom’s racing number: 1J.
