Batman, ballerinas, and Bozo…you never know what you might see at the annual Trick or Trot 5k, sponsored by the GFWC Bridgeport Junior Woman’s Club.  While costumes are not required for the family-friendly race, they are certainly encouraged.

This year’s race will take place on October 27, beginning at 9:00a.m.  The course will begin at the Benedum Civic Center, running past the tennis courts, crossing Virginia Avenue and heading into the city park trail.  Participants will go down the steep hill and do two laps in the city park before returning to the civic center following the same route.

The Bridgeport Juniors will provide kids activities, including an obstacle course led by the area’s only certified Kids Spartan trainer, Jen Brazier.  There will also be a Kid’s Dash held in the parking lot next to the tennis courts at 8:30a.m.

Participants can register for the Trick or Trot 5K on raceentry.com with the keyword Trick or Trot, and registration will be open until the evening before the race.  On-site registration will be available the day of the race, beginning at 8:00a.m.

The first 50 participants will be entered to win a basket full of healthy goodies and there will be prizes for the top three female and male runners and a first-place winner in each age category.  The best costume will also receive an award.

Platinum Sponsors of the race include Grogg’s Home Services, Venture Real Estate, MedExpress and Freedom Kia.  Silver Sponsor is Enliven and Bronze Sponsor is Bridgeport Physical Therapy.  Portions of the proceeds from the Trick or Trot will be used to support local causes and charities.
