Farmers Market President Amanda Workman-Scott Selected as One of State’s 2021 Wonder Women

In the header for her write-up in the annual West Virginia Wonder Women edition by WVU Living Magazine, Amanda Workman-Scott is referred to as a “The Hometown Hero.”

The designation stems from her from her work as Director of community engagement at the West Virginia Community Development Hub, her work with the Bridgeport Farmers Market, and her love of her home state.

“Each community has its own unique things to offer,” Workman-Scott said. “But when I hear other people from outside of West Virginia talk about West Virginia when they visit here, it really comes back to the beauty of the state and the people who live here.”

Workman-Scott said her involvement with the Market has been a good way to show how important she feels it is to get involved in one’s own community.

“The Bridgeport Farmers Market – they’re all family to me,” she said. “It’s an amazing thing we’re able to pull off every single week over the summer and into the fall. It’s really cool because it’s something my parents started 11 or 12 years ago, and is now something I get to share with my family every Sunday.”

To read more about Workman-Scott as well as the other featured women, you can pick up a copy of WV Living Magazine, which can be found at various outlets throughout the state.
