Fearless Fools Embark on 3 City Tour This Weekend

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 25, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Vintage Theatre’s Founding Producer and Artistic Director Jason A. Young keeps a map of the state of West Virginia in his office in Bridgeport. Every time the company performs in a new town within the state Young places a pushpin in the map. By Monday, thanks to the popularity of VTC’s comedy troupe, The Fearless Fools, Young will be adding two new pins to his map.

This weekend, The Fearless Fools will embark on their FOOLS OF JULY 3-CITY TOUR with performances on Friday night at the Main Street Café in Clarksburg, Saturday night at The Preston Community Arts Center in Kingwood, and Sunday evening at The Moose Lodge in Buckhannon.

“Vintage Theatre is based in Harrison County. Our Academy is in Bridgeport, and our Cabaret is in Clarksburg,” said Young. “But from the beginning we wanted to expose as many West Virginia communities as possible to the great artists that this state has to offer. That is how our performance troupes and the VTC to GO program were born.”

The Fearless Fools were the first VTC Performance Troupe, formed in April of 2013. Coached by Clarksburg native and Chicago Second City-trained Steve Goff, The Fools specialize in a unique blend of short-form and long-form improv comedy but will many times fuse their shows with original sketch comedy as well as stand-up. The troupe features the comedic talents of Christian Cox, Kasey Kesner, Steve McElroy, Liz Rossi, Craig Snider, Lauren Swann, and Jason A. Young.

Friday’s performance at the Main Street Café is a return trip for The Fools after playing a nearly sold out show at the Downtown Clarksburg venue in May. The show begins at 8:00 p.m., and tickets are $5.00 at the door.

The Preston Community Arts Center on Price Street in Kingwood is a new venue for the Fools. This family friendly show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night, and tickets are $7.00 for adults and only $3.50 for students.

The Fools will headline Buckhannon Community Theatre’s Lasagna & Laughs fundraiser at Moose Lodge #598 on N. Kanawha Street in Buckhannon. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the lasagna dinner beginning at 6:00 p.m., and The Fools performance to follow. Tickets are $20.00 and are available at the door.

“We are very much looking forward to doing three shows in three counties at three great venues in three days,” said Young. “These are the kinds of weekends that fill up my map, and that is the goal after all.”
